1.3. Kaposiform haemangioendothelioma and tufted angioma
These are two benign tumours that represent a more aggressive variant (kaposiform haemangioendothelioma) and a more benign variant (tufted angioma) of angiomas. The only complication that can occur with these tumours is thrombocytopenia (due to the overconsumption of platelets) and this may lead to increased bleeding (Kasabach-Merritt syndrome). This complication can be treated with corticosteroids, rapamycin or vincristine.
