Vascular anomalies

1.2. Congenital haemangioma

A benign vascular tumour with a natural (growth) history that differs to that of infantile haemangiomas. These tumours are already present at birth and do not show post-natal proliferation.

There are three clinical varieties: Rapidly Involuting Congenital Haemangiomas (RICH), which disappear before the age of 1; Non-Involuting Congenital Haemangiomas (NICH), which remain practicallythe same over the years; and Partially Involuting Congenital Haemangiomas (PICH), which initially appear to rapidly regress but they then stop and do not completely disapear.

Congenital haemangiomas, unlike infantile haemangiomas, are not treated with propranolol.
