6. Mycophenolate mofetil

It is a second- and/or third-line drug, in case there is no response to initial treatment (corticosteroids, MTX and/or gamma globulins).

It is administered orally at a dose of approximately 600 mg/m2 twice a day, with a maximum dose of 1 g twice a day.

The most important side effects are digestive, in the form of abdominal pain and/or diarrhoea. Control blood tests similar to those for the drugs described above should be carried out, and plasma levels can also be determined.
