10. Other drugs

For more complicated and refractory cases of calcinosis, non-immunosuppressive drugs can be used that act at the level of phosphocalcic metabolism, with the aim of helping its reabsorption, although at present the recommendations of experts advocate increasing immunosuppressive treatment. Some of these drugs are diltiazem or bisphosphonates (alendronate, pamidronate, zoledronate...).

To prevent osteoporosis associated with chronic corticosteroid treatment, it is recommended to administer calcium/vitamin D supplements and, in the case of fracture, to carry out an individualised assessment to decide whether treatment with bisphosphonates is necessary.

In the presence of arterial hypertension, alteration of lipid metabolism, etc., the need for specific treatment should be assessed.
