Osteogenesis imperfecta

2. Deformities of the extremities
Patients with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) often have deformities of their extremities. Some children may be born with these deformities, while others may develop them as they grow. The deformities usually occur in the long bones, either due to fractures that were not properly aligned during repair, or as a result of the combined effects of gravity, the patient's weight, and the pressure of muscles on weakened bones, causing them to bend.
