2.3. Specific APPs

We can find some applications, such as the Seeing Assistant magnifying glasses, that could help at any given time to enlarge some text. But on many occasions, simply using the camera to take a picture of a street name sign, for example, will be enough to be able to read it.

Another clever use of technology, and of course much cheaper than conventional CCTVs (closed circuit televisions), is the use of an iPad or an Apple TV. Connecting it to the television and focusing the camera of our iPad on any document, we can see what the camera captures on the big screen, and additionally all the vision features that we use on our iPad will be reflected on the larger screen.

The book "Zoom in", available in iBooks and authored by Luis Pérez, is very interesting, as it provides a great number of tips on how visually impaired people can take advantage of new technologies, as well as offering more portable and cheaper alternative ways of carrying out daily tasks.
