2.4. TACAR (High Resolution Lung CT)

It is a non-invasive technique that can show the existence, appearance and distribution of various lung abnormalities in a sensitive and precise way, with much greater clarity than traditional lung CT, given that the lung slices are very thin and, in this way, it is much more likely to see any type of alteration, however small it may be.

Due to its radiation, it is usually only performed after having carried out functional respiratory tests and having a high suspicion of lung disease.

It allows us to know what radiological pattern of pulmonary alteration is present (reticular, nodular, alveolar or cystic pattern...), which gives us a fairly reliable indication of the possible associated disease. It should be borne in mind that the same disease may present with different patterns, which should be evaluated in a multidisciplinary manner by specialists in diagnostic imaging, pulmonologists and rheumatologists.
