1. Lighting

Inadequate lighting causes fatigue and reduces work capability. The quantity and quality of light must be monitored, as well as:

  • Direction of the light: light must come from a point located behind the left shoulder (if the subject is left-handed, it will be the other way around).
  • Intensity: contrast between the light of the lamp and the lighting of the room where we are should not be high.
  • Scope: light must cover the entire reading surface and be regularly distributed.
  • Glare: usually occurs either because the placement of the light is wrong or because the material used (paper or table) is shiny and reflects the light.
  • Heat: cold or fluorescent lights are recommended.
