Every person, family, and their surrounding community will experience very different realities depending on their context and the specific manifestations associated with each type of EB. In this context, the disease presents various challenges for those affected, and often society is not prepared to accept these differences. As a result, a significant portion of the effort from individuals with EB and their families will be focused on breaking down various barriers—physical, social, and psychological—to live more integrated lives.
